Gua sha is a simple technique that helps to resolve stubborn pain and old injuries, and can heal tissues by reorganizing the fascial matrix.

In this workshop we will cover the wide application possibilities of gua sha and specific treatment strategies for many common conditions. Learn about the fascinating history of gua sha as well as its modern usage in the form of Graston and IASTM, and gain practical skills to use with immediate results in your clinic.

This workshop is open to acupuncturists, massage therapists, chiropractors, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other bodyworkers.

Schedule
The workshop will be from 9am to 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break and two 15 minute breaks. We will alternate lecture and didactic material with hands on learning in pairs. Be prepared to treat and receive treatment.

Please bring:

  • A gua sha tool of your choice. Here is a guide to choosing a gua sha tool. Gua sha tools are widely available online. Professional grade copper gua sha tools from Acuartistry will be available for sale at the workshop for $100. Card or Venmo is accepted for payment.
  • A set of linens for the massage table
  • Lotion or other gliding medium
  • A hand towel
  • Please wear or bring shorts and a tank top or sports bra for better treatment access during the practical portion.

This workshop will be video recorded for future teaching purposes, if you do not wish to be recorded you may opt out.

Cancellation policy
90% refund if cancellation is at least 2 weeks in advance of the start date. No refunds if cancellation is less than 2 weeks in advance of the start date.

Registration and Cost

Single registrant early bird rate $155 until September 12th, $180 thereafter.

Double registrant early bird rate + buddy discount: an additional $10 off each registration for two people registering together. ($145 until September 12th, $170 thereafter).

About the instructor
Carly Herrero LAc is an acupuncturist in private practice in Bath, ME. She teaches classes and workshops for students and professionals on gua sha, cupping, ethics, business, eastern bodywork, and eastern medicine. She practiced massage therapy for over 15 years in Oregon and Washington and has been a licensed acupuncturist since 2016.

She provided acupuncture in hospice care for many years and is an NCCAOM continuing education instructor for hospice acupuncture.
